There is an opportunity to provide students in Gainesville
with a scooter repair service that doesn’t hassle its customers when it comes
to getting the scooter to the repair shop. Finding a way to transport the
scooter to and from repair can be inconvenient for students and the current
providers of this transportation are not as efficient as they could be. This
could be solved by providing the majority of small repairs on-site, where the
scooter is parked. This eliminates the need for transportation and can shorten
the amount of time a student is without their scooter. Ideally, a repair man
would fill up a van full of the necessary tools and parts and the customer
could call the repair shop, describe the problem to the repair man, and they
could bring the necessary tools or products to do the job. This would allow the
scooter to stay where it is or be used until the time of the repair; rather
than sitting in a shop for days or weeks.
You have found an excellent solution to your original opportunity. Having repair shops operate out of a van would completely solve the issue of transporting the broken scooters. This idea is very feasible as many of the tools and materials needed to fix scooters are small and easy to transport. Many services have begun to follow this model. For instance, when I was locked out of my car earlier this semester, I was able to have a locksmith come to where my car was parker and unlock my car.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me a lot of other services that have started coming to the consumer apart from the customer going to them. It's interesting really how they expect someone to bring a scooter to them when their form of trasnportation is the one that's broken. This sounds like a good solution as it's being used with vets, grocery shopping and even meal preps.
